Thoughts on what we as Christians owe the world.

There is a lot of controversy going around about the "Obamacare" thing, I totally understand the problems many have with it, but I sometimes wonder about some of the reactions I see from fellow Christians about even the IDEA of  it.

Anti Socialism comments are the most common I see, they point to other government ran attempts at such things, point out the failures, how the greedy often take advantage, but you never see them pointing out the successful examples, small communities in which the principle of pure idealist socialism works, mostly because there is accountability found in the community, that is pretty much impossible in large scale models.

But this article isn't meant as a defense of Socialism, I am by no means defending the forced re-distribution of wealth, or any such thing,  but to point out  the Ideal  taught by Jesus Christ.

Here is a handful of Bible quotes that are related to socialism.

Obviously Jesus was in favor of Socialism, but ALSO in favor of capitalism to a degree, we are meant as followers of Christ, to love our neighbors as ourselves, to take care of each other when we can, and allow ourselves to be taken care of when we need it, Children should never be starving in our streets while we have the power to keep that from happening.

There have been times in my life where I have had to say "no, I cant help." you can't let people take advantage, I've had people ask me for money for food when im really close myself,  just because they didn't want to give up a few luxuries for a few weeks, and yeah, you need to tell them no, you cant go with your heart if it would screw you over, but not really help the other party much anyway, the world we live in, its easy to get taken advantage of that way... But there is always SOMETHING you can do to help, help them find services, invite them over for dinner if you can, and make something delicious that goes a long way!

It is my personal belief and interpretation of the teachings of Christ, that we have a Duty to do the best we can to take care of each other, and the world, to show love and kindness to others as much as we can, to give from our plenty to help those who actually need it, so they can help us when we need it.

I am sure there are many out there that could put this better than I have, I don't have much gift with words, but my point is, If you feel there is a problem with Obamacare, if you believe it to be poorly thought out and its plans for implementation ridiculous, then you owe it to yourself, and to your community to help create a better alternative, we have the power to do so if we choose to come together and do it, I don't really know where to start, but I will do my best to try and live up to this ideal in my own life, and if enough of us do, we may just change the world.
